Phillip Ray Smith

Mr. Phillip R. Smith age 59 of Dalton passed away Wednesday May 18, 2016 at his residence with his family by his side. Phillip was born February 28, 1957.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents Charlie and Maudie Smith, Moses Albert and Effie Langley; and his parents Clarence and Mary Smith.

Phillip is survived by his sisters and brother-in-law Jeanne Jackson, Carolyn Parrish, Lesia and Andy Smith all of Chatsworth; brothers and sisters-in-law Mike and Annette Smith of Dalton, Bruce and Felisha Smith, Tony and Teresa Smith and Larry Smith all of Chatsworth.  Many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and special cousins also survive.  

Phillip attended North Whitfield High School and was a long time resident of the Dawnville Community.  He was employed by Crown Craft Mills, Lyndle Chemical, Dalton Sheet Metal and most recently self employed.  Phillip had a keen mechanical mind and loved to tinker and fix things.  He loved his family, community and his neighbors.  He was known for helping others. 

The family will receive friends at Shawn Chapman Funeral Home in Chatsworth from 5 to 9 pm Thursday, May 19, 2016.  A service to celebrate the life of Phillip will be Friday, May 20, 1 pm at Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Billy Willis officiating. Interment will be at Dawnville United Methodist Church Cemetery.
