ARTHUR ROSS MACFADDEN, SR.

Mr. Arthur Ross MacFadden, Sr. of Lookout Mountain passed away on November 18, 2015 at his residence.

He was an avid member of Church of the Good Shepherd on Lookout Mountain, Tennessee. He was a graduate of John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland; he received his M.B. from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and his Ph. D. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He retired from Chattanooga State Community College as the Dean of Finance and the United States Air Force as a Lt. Colonel. He was a pilot in World War II who flew over the Himalaya Mountains in India. He was a Boy Scout leader on Lookout Mountain and was a leader in Junior Achievement. He also was a Liaison officer with the Air Force Academy. He was a proud member of the Air Force Association. He was a volunteer at the Tennessee Aquarium for many years and loved researching inhabitants of the aquarium. His two sons, Gaylord Neal MacFadden Sr. and Arthur Ross MacFadden Jr. preceded Dr. MacFadden in death. He is survived by his wife of 71 years Cynthia “Sue” Neal MacFadden of Lookout Mountain, Georgia; special nephew Gaylord Carney of Palmetto, Florida, daughter-in-law Sandra MacFadden McCarley, grandson Gaylord Neal “Mac” MacFadden Jr. his wife Shea MacFadden, granddaughters David and Tammy Manly and Ricky and Mitzi Reed, great grandchildren all of Dalton, Georgia, and special friend Ronda Pilgram of Trenton, Georgia.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 23, 2015 in the Library of Church of the Good Shepherd on Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, at 1 and a memorial service will be held at 2:30. An interment at the Chattanooga National Cemetery will occur at a later date.

En lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tennessee Aquarium to the Arthur MacFadden Professional Development Award.
