Walter Paul Tant "Poppa" Obituary

Walter Paul Tant "Poppa" age 86, passed away February 20, 2021, at CHI Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, TN.

Poppa is what most of his family and friends called him. He, was a wonderful, husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Poppa proudly served our country in the United States Army, He was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. He genuinely loved his church. Poppa was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Eton. He was an avid fisherman. He loved talking cars and being a mechanic, but most of all he loved his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Essie Mae Tant: brother, Eddie: sisters, Nell, Rita, Lois: sisters in law Linda and Zora Tant: grandson, Chase Penson.

Walter is survived by his wife, Margaret Ann Tant: sons and daughters-in-laws David( Danelle) Tant, Mark ( Lacreasia) Tant, Chuck (Beth) Wilson, John ( Nicole )Wilson, daughter, and son in law Susan ( Derick) Howell: daughter, Lora Langford: grandchildren, Blake Tant, Nathan Tant, Branden Tant, Justin (Tracy) Tant, Hannah Tant, Amber,(Grady) Vest, Taylor Cornish, Kari Michaelian, Jordon Langford, Kristen (Damien) Casey, Beth Howell, Bradley Tant, Kali Michaelian, Zoe Wilson, Angel Tant, Jade Tant, and Zane Wilson: eight great-grandchildren, brother Jimmy Tant, sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol ( Dan) Trouche, Juanita ( Curtis) Sandford brother in law Doyle Tankersley: many nieces and nephews that he dearly loved also survive.

Funeral services for Mr.Walter Paul Tant will be Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at 3 pm in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home, with Rev. Chris Ray and Rev. Charles Smith officiating. The interment will be at the Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, from 3 pm to 9 pm.
