Travis Mitchell

James "Travis" Mitchell, age 72, passed away on January 25, 2021, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Travis loved the lord above all else. He was a supportive, loving & loyal husband, father, brother, son & papaw. He always worked the hardest. He could do anything he set his mind to.  He enjoyed gardening & poking fun at his friends & family. He always believed laughter was the best medicine - never missing an opportunity to be the cause of it. He was loved. He is missed. We were so lucky to call him ours.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Milo and Eva Mitchell: brothers, H.L. Mitchell and   Albert Mitchell.

Survivors include his loving wife of 17 years, Joyce Mitchell: son. and daughter in law, Chris and Laurel Mitchell: daughter, Penny Mitchell, and Ben Tillotson, daughter, and son in law, Alaicia "Suzanne" and  Augustine Gomez: grandchildren: Christopher and Bridget Mitchell, Jacob and Kody Mitchum, Elizabeth and Rodney Ray, Melaine Reyna Gomez: great-grandson, Maverick James Owen Ray, brother and sister in law Doyle and Lorrie Mitchum: sister, Susie and Gerry Crider.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mr. Mitchell will be Thursday, January 28, 2021, at 2 PM, in the chapel of Shawn Chapman funeral home, with Rev Edwin Puckett and Rev. Ricky Gravley officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12 until 2 PM at the funeral home.  Interment will be in the Center Valley Cemetery.
