Tina Marie Martin Obituary

Tina Marie Roberts Martin
Mrs. Tina Marie Roberts Martin, book lover, gardener, and avid Scrabble player, passed away
at 69 on Thursday, April 30, 2026. The oldest of four siblings, she was born in 1956, to parents
Ruth and Don Roberts, in Wadsworth, OH. She grew up in two Wadsworth homes that are still
standing today, and growing up there gave her the formative moments that would shape her
insatiable curiosity.
Tina had a soft spot for animals, and consequently became a routine haven for those in need,
including the infamous “Oarf” (who had a sister called “Annie”). She also had an extremely
sharp wit, and had an exceptional talent for not taking nonsense from anyone. A self-proclaimed
geek, she loved most things sci-fi and spent many of her recent years parked at the Comet
channel, though in the past she would love to curl up with an Anne Rice novel (or, more
recently, Animal Crossing). Tina had many good times with friends and at “Ladies’ Night,” but
she always made time for her children as well. Her other lifelong hobbies include camping,
hiking, journalism, gardening, and ocean gazing. She also had a fondness for Reese’s Cups,
boiled peanuts, and Yoohoo. She did not have a fondness for being slung off of a tiny scooter in
her driveway (thank her husband, Tony) or being in any vehicle in general.
Tina was a strong advocate for others, and on more than one occasion took action to make a
situation right. She always knew what the “right thing” was, and she had enough conviction for
ten of us on a normal day. She was unbelievably strong and had a fire in her that could light a
village but mostly kept us warm. Her care for others was unmatched, and she always had a
shining curiosity about the world and its people; on one occasion, a Filipina friend replied to one
of her many questions with, “You know, no one has ever asked me that before in all my time I’ve
lived here!” Tina always loved to learn, and she was able to channel her compassion into an
LPN license; she then assisted patients in a dialysis unit.
Tina has joined her husband, Tony Neal Martin, whom she met in Savannah, GA and married in
August of 1982. They had a lifetime of love, laughter, and motorcycle parts, and they enjoyed
life in Toccoa, GA from 1989 onward. They co-owned Motorcycle Parts Outlet for 20 years.
She is survived by her daughters Hannah (Bryan) and Allison (Ro). Her daughters have each
grown into their own and built their own homes, though they will never forget all of the long talks,
grocery trips, or games of rummy with their mother.
Tina is survived by her two grandchildren, Jack and Lucy; she greatly enjoyed supporting
“Peanut” (Jack) at his baseball games and Lucy at her dance recitals.
She is survived by her parents, Don and Ruth; her sisters, Karen, Peggy, and Penny; and a
mountain of good friends who can’t all be named for fear of missing someone.
Tina plans to spend the remainder of her time in the ocean; her celebration of life will be
arranged soon.
