Sonia Ridley Obituary

Sonia Ridley, 67, was born in Dalton, GA, on September 6th, 1958, to Rev. Troy L. Ridley and Virginia Brindle Ridley of the Casey Springs Community.

She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Troy L Ridley.

She is survived by her mother, Virginia Ridley: daughters, Miranda Pulver Hunt (Seth) of Calhoun, Megan Pulver Lunsford (Joshua) of Hartwell, GA, Marla Pulver Sanford (Matthew) of Chatsworth, brother David Ridley (Christy) also of the Casey Springs Community, Mark Pulver the father of her children, of Dalton, her favorite niece Lana Ridley and grandchildren; Mayfield Sanford, Julia Hunt, Caroline Sanford, and Clara Hunt.

She spent most of her life around the Brindle Lake area of Murray County, which was near and dear to her and made many mentions in her poetry writings, photos, and musings on social media. Sonia graduated from Murray County High School in 1976. Sonia began her career in nursing at Murray County Hospital, and it continued at MedNow in Dalton for many years, where she made many friends with coworkers and patients alike. It was with her MedNow coworkers that she became aware of the need for a medical mission trip to Honduras, and being a part of that brought her great joy. She will be remembered for being a good mother who loved her family. She certainly had a heart for helping others and never met a stranger. She was always willing to extend kindness to everyone. She would regularly strike up a conversation with someone whom she had just met. She loved the simple things in life and was a beautiful piano player. She enjoyed spending Saturdays at the North Georgia Mini Speedway and befriended almost everyone in attendance. She enjoyed gardening and named her garden “Victory Farms.” She was an avid NASCAR fan and cheered so fervently for her favorite drivers that it seemed she knew them personally. Some of her fondest memories were at NASCAR tracks or BBQs, but not for the race or the food, which she enjoyed, but for the interaction with those in attendance and the camping. She always dreamed of spending more time at the beach, and after retirement, she spent the majority of her time at the Gulf Breeze RV Resort. She was always looking forward to the activities at the resort and cherished spending time with the people there.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
