Shannon Lynn Maddron, 57, of Chatsworth, Georgia, passed away on March 15, 2026, surrounded by family. Shannon was born on January 6, 1969, in Chatsworth, Georgia, where he spent his entire life building a home, a family, and a legacy of hard work and love.

Shannon spent much of his life on the road as an owner-operator tanker truck driver. Trucking wasn’t just his job; it was something he took pride in. He was the kind of man who believed in working hard and providing for his family, and he did both faithfully for many years.

Shannon had a love for cars and anything mechanical. He spent many hours working on hobby cars and tinkering in the shop, usually with a set of tools close by. Over the years, there always seemed to be some kind of project sitting in the garage. One that became especially memorable to the family was an old black ‘72 Chevlotte truck often jokingly called “Blackie.” While Shannon may have had plans for it, it probably saw more action as the setting for his kids’ imaginary adventures than it ever did on the road.

Shannon was known to be hardworking, stubborn, and someone who could have a short temper when the situation called for it, but anyone who truly knew him also knew he had one of the biggest hearts you could find. If someone he loved needed him, Shannon would drop whatever he was doing to be there. He was a man who showed his love through his actions, through his work, and through always making sure his family was taken care of.

Of all the roles he held in life, being a husband, dad, Papaw, and PopPop were the ones he cherished most. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family and watching his children flourish and his grandchildren grow. Those who knew him best know that while he might not always have been the most sentimental man with words, his love for his family was never something that had to be questioned.

Shannon is survived by his loving wife, Angie Maddron, whom he married on January 6, 1997. Together they built a life filled with family, laughter, and more stories than anyone could ever count. 

He is also survived by his children: Chelsea (Adam) Heasley, Cody (Mary) Maddron, Trevor (Mallori) Maddron, Kristy (Steve) Millsaps, Jaxson Millsaps, and Jhana Millsaps. His grandchildren: Zoey, Easton, Braxtin, Braxton, Teagan, Mabry, and Samuel, who proudly knew him as Papaw and PopPop.  

He is also survived by his mother, Janice Maddron; his sister, Starr (Jeff) Cochren; brother-in-law, Steve Chambers; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a church family who loved him dearly, as well as his longtime friend Franklin “Papaw” Skinner.

Shannon was preceded in death by his father, Winfrey Maddron; his grandparents, Austin and Pauline Ogle; his sister-in-law, Diana Chambers; his good friend Jerry Caswell; and several aunts and uncles. 

As family and friends gathered together the past few days, many stories have been shared—stories from Shannon’s younger days, stories from the road, stories about cars, and stories about raising kids. Some of the most talked-about were the legendary towel fights between Shannon and his kids when they were growing up. Looking back now, some might say those moments may not have looked quite as fun from the outside as they did to those involved, but for his family, they were just part of life with Shannon.

Anyone who knew Shannon Maddron knows he was one of a kind. He worked hard, loved deeply, and lived life in a way that left plenty of stories behind. While his tools may finally be laid down, the legacy he built through his family and the lives he touched will carry on for many years to come.

A service to honor the life of Shannon Maddron will be on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 3 pm in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home, with Pastor Will Linginfelter officiating. The interment will be in the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
