Shann Jerome Hall Shann was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many. His heart was as big as his talents—whether in music, woodworking, mechanics, or his impressive skills in horseshoe pitching, he was very competitive. No matter what he put his hands or mind to, he excelled with passion and dedication. Shann served his country with honor in the United States Marine Corps, earning various awards and commendations. His strength, discipline, and leadership impacted those who served alongside him and later worked for him. Born in Blackwell, OK, to Dan and Alice Hall, Shann was the eldest of seven children. As a young boy, he loved playing football and cherished his time outdoors. His love for adventure and the simple joys of life stayed with him through the years.
In 1977, fate led Shann to the love of his life, Mary Nell, when he went looking for his brother Ira but found her instead. From that moment on, their love story began. They married on March 3, 1982, in Dalton, GA, and built a beautiful life together, raising their children—Strider, Heather, and Dane—who were the absolute joy of their lives.
Shann was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Alice Hall, and his sister, Lyrea McNeese.
He is survived by his beloved wife, and best friend, Mary Nell Hall; his children, Daniel Strider Hall and Brittany Callahan, Dane Hall, and Heather Stoker and son in law, Rob Stoker, and his grandchildren Devyn Sturgill, Dylan Sturgill and Shatima Smith, and Logan Hall, and Madison Callahan, and his 3 great grandchildren Stella, Hildie, and Nova Sturgill; his sisters, Dana Witherow and family, Nila Muse and family, and Tawna Collins and family; his brothers, Garner Hall and family, and Ira Hall and family; along with many cherished cousins, friends, and extended family. Shann will always be remembered for his humor, quick wit, and boundless wisdom. He had a way of making people laugh and feel at ease, no matter the situation. He was a natural leader, earning the deep respect of all who worked alongside him. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for his family and friends knew no bounds. He found joy in music, in the companionship of his pets, and in the freedom of the great outdoors. Most of all, he found joy in the people he loved. His legacy of love, laughter, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A service to honor Shann Jerome Hall’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home, with Perry Muse officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
