Roger Dale Newcom, age 81, of Chatsworth, Georgia, went on his forever fishing trip on January 19, 2026 afternoon. 

Roger was born on August 8, 1944, and was raised in Jasper, Tennessee. He attended Marion County High School.

Roger was a lifelong electronics repairman who had a true love for repairing, fixing, and building just about anything. He loved working with his hands, being creative, and loved music which was evident in his many passions, including cooking, baking, flower and vegetable gardening, shooting pool, playing cards, throwing darts, playing vinyl records and of course fishing. A quiet man by nature, Roger had a deep passion for all living things, was a deep thinker and always ready with a joke or interesting observation and most of all his passion for his family.

Roger will be lovingly missed and remembered by his son, Billy; his daughter and son-in-law, Lacinda and Shane Pierce; his grandchildren, Memorie and Jasper and Angelete Pierce; and his five great-grandchildren Axton, Kayden, Hagen, Iasia, and Delilah Pierce. And many other extended family members and dear friends. 

Visitation and services will be held at Shawn Chapman Funeral Home in Chatsworth, Georgia. Visitation will take place from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., with the service to follow on Saturday January 31, 2026.

DUE TO THE WEATHER MR.NEWCOM’S memorial service will be rescheduled for February 2, 2026. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 4pm to 6pm
