Robert Roe Obituary

Robert Hartley Roe,(Bob) passed away surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 77 years on
April 24, 2023, after a series of recent health struggles, the last being pneumonia.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jan Roe, daughter, Becky Karson, her husband, Jason
Karson and grandchildren Robbie Karson and Hannah Karson. Bob grew up in Massachusetts as the son of Hartley and Irene Roe with two siblings ,Joan
Chicoine and Doug Roe, who also survive him.

Bob worked as a truck driver most of his life for various companies. But what he most enjoyed was working with his hands, horses and being with his family and friends. He was very handy around the house and loved to build things out of wood. His daughter has very fond memories of building bird houses together when she was little. Bob was a man of God, hard worker, provider to his family, loving husband and father. He would do anything for you no matter the time or cost. He was a servant to the church. He and his wife served each week as greeters at Holly Creek Baptist Church in Chatsworth, Georgia. His daughter holds many sentimental memories. Among them are going to the car races, playing games of all sorts, teaching her how to ride a bike, playing tether ball with one hand so she had a fighting chance of winning, going camping and letting her “shift” the truck while he drove down the road. Later in her life, he was there to help her through some very challenging personal circumstances as well as celebrate the joyful times. His wife recalls that she appreciated how he helped her keep things neat and tidy around the house and yard, that he took her out to eat every Sunday after church, how he supported and cared for her thru her battle with cancer and took her on a fun trip to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. But most importantly, how he told her daily that he loved her.  His grandson, Robbie, loved how he would sit him on his lap when he was little and let him drive the lawn mower. He loved that he introduced him to good music, like Elvis Presley, which let him down a path to even more great styles of music and artists. He loved his generous heart and his love for God, which truly inspired him to grow in his faith even more.  His granddaughter, Hannah, said that he always reminded her to use her gifts from God and that he was always one of her biggest supporters. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. However, it brings immense peace and joy knowing he is waiting to greet us one day in Heaven where we will spend eternity.

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023, at  2 PM, at Holly Creek Baptist Church.
