Richard Doyle Sumner Jr., age 56 of Rocky Face learned the secret, on Sunday, September 10, 2023. He was born on November 27, 1966
He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Doyle Sumner Sr. mother, Betty Nixon, stepfather, Rod Nixon Sr., and brother, Rod Nixon.
He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-five years Stephanye Sumner; son, James RL (Jason) Sumner, Michael A. Sumner, Johnathan Justyn Kase Sumner; his baby girl, Shannon N. Schorle; granddaughters; Scarlet, Sarah, and Savannah Schorle, Domino Tatum, Madilyn Rae Sumner, Payslei Annelise Blackwell, Brookelynn Jayce Sumner; Stepmother, Vivian Winn: mother in law, Brenda Burger; several sisters and two brothers Dennis Nixon, Wesley Wooten; several aunts and uncles; special friends, Mike Griffin Robert Ankney, and Wiley Walden.
A service to honor the life of Richard Doyle Sumner Jr. will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2023, in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home, with Wiley Walden officiating, The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made toward his final expenses. At his request he wanted people to dress casually.
