Mr. Michael Mathis age 71 of Chatsworth went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 29, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones.

Mike was a member of Holly Creek Baptist Church, an avid gardener, a loyal friend, and always willing to lend a helping hand. He retired from Mohawk Industries.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Winfred H. and Emma Stewart Mathis, and father-in-law, Arnold Pittman.

He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-five years, Brenda Pittman Mathis; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Kim Mathis; sisters and brothers-in-law, Deanna and Lynn Warnack, Arnetta and Lee Williams, and Beverly and Tommy Gravely; mother-in-law Rowena Pittman; brother in law Mike Pittman; several nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends also survive. 

A service to honor the life of Micheal Mathis will be at 4 pm on Sunday, December 31, 2023, in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Cochran officiating. The interment will be in the Murray Memorial Gardens. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, December 31, 2023, from 2 pm to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Michael Mathis to Holly Creek Baptist Church or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
