Marie Culver Dann    June 11, 1925 – March 2, 2024

Marie Dann, aka Memaw, departed the physical world on March 2nd.  Marie resided and was well cared for at Quinton Memorial Nursing Facility for many years.

Marie was born the 2nd eldest of nine siblings to a farming family.  As a young girl, she was responsible for the younger children, while her parents worked the fields, and began learning to cook and to keep a home at a very early age.  She became an expert at both, making her living in the food industry at several local cafes and diners in the Dalton area.  In particular, she served many a meal at the Oakwood Café.  Also on her resume, was personal chef to Mr. Bob Shaw at Shaw Industries.  She took great pride in serving Mr. Shaw and his staff.  Marie always eagerly anticipated the yearly Shaw dinner honoring retired employees, where she was always treated regally and felt well loved and honored for her time there.

Marie will be remembered for her quick wit, feisty spirit, beautiful twinkling eyes and her talent in the kitchen.  She loved nothing more than serving up a table full of delicious food to her family and having them all surrounding her.  Her greatest regret of aging was no longer being able to cook. 

Marie was preceded in death by her Parents, Walter Cochran and Mabel Dunn Cochran, Husband, George Dann, Brothers, Dunn C., Leonard, Floyd, Jim (Jimmy), Harold and Jack Cochran          Sister, Wahlice Cochran Swanson  Sister-in-law, Peggy Cochran                                                                                                              

Left behind to remember her with love and laughter: Sister, Joann Cochran, Sisters-in-law, Lois Cochran, Diane Cochran, Son Bill (Jr.) Culver, wife Meizhen. Grandchildren: Chris, Haylee, Timothy, Tianna Culver. Great Grandchildren: Ty, Christian, Madison, Son Tony Culver, wife Tami. Grandchild:  Angie Culver, Great Grandchildren: Rebecca, Caleb, Lexi. Great Great Grandchildren:  Jaiven, Aiden, Kaleigh, Daughter Connie Culver. Grandchildren: Heath, Cara.  Great Grandchildren: Heather Johnson (Darren), Frankie, Ranger, Madilyn, Parker  Great Great Grandchildren: Pryson, Hadley, Cameron, and  Luke. Special friend Dwana Moore.
