Leach Richards Obituary

Leach Delano (Del) Richards Sr. went home to be with the Lord July 19, 2021, He is preceded
in death by his parents William Troy Richards I and Rilla Lee Robinson Richards, brother
William Troy Richards II.
Del was a graduate of Berry High School in 1959 and Berry College in 1963. He served in the
Murray County School Board from 1995-2002 and worked in the insurance industry for 40
years. He loved Tennessee Walking horses, telling jokes, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Wylene Hall Richards, daughter and son-in-law Lucretia
and David Wilkins, sons and daughters-in-law Del and Holly Richards, Ryan and Donna
Richards, all of Dalton, daughter, and son-in-law Leigh Ann and Greg Shoemaker of Chatsworth.
Grandchildren: Josh and Amy Wilkins, Dylan and Macie Richards, Kaylie Richards, Hannah and
Jared Peden, Emileigh Shoemaker, Kyle Shoemaker, Maddie and Chris Roberts, Sara
Richards, Megan and Jacob Sexton, Kobe Richards, Jon Richards, Alex Richards, Josie
Richards, Jace Richards, Xavier Wofford.
Great-grandchildren: Samuel Peden, Amelia Peden, Asher Lindsey. Ruth Ann Richards, Wrenly
Sexton
Brother Jimmy Richards of Dalton, brother, and sister-in-law Randall, and Virginia Richards of
Chatsworth, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law Charlene and Gene Peters, Randy and Treasia
Hall, all of Dalton, James Caldwell of Birmingham, Alabama, and many nieces and nephews.
We want to give special thanks to his caretakers Brandy Banks, Starr Nisler, and all nurses and
staff with Tapestry Hospice.
Services will be held at Shawn Chapman Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 21,
2021. The family will receive friends from 12-4 with the funeral to follow at 4:00. Rev. Wayne
Rogers and Dylan Richards will be officiating the service. The interment will be at Sumach Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery.

Flowers accepted or donations to the Alzheimers' Organization or Homeland Baptist Church.
