In the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 29, 2022, Mrs. Juanita (Langford) Ledford passed away peacefully at her home, after an extended illness. She was 96 years young.
Lola Juanita (Langford) Ledford, a lifelong resident of Murray County, was born on January 22, 1926. She was the daughter of Reverend Newt Langford and Della Mae Baxter Langford. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Lester Ledford, brothers- J.L. Langford, H Langford, Hoyt Langford, Dafney Langford, Rudy Langford, and Edward Langford, and sisters Nora Crumbley, Velt Beavers, and Barbara Ledford. She is survived by her children- Garland (Ann) Ledford, Wanda Henry, and Gerard Ledford, her grandchildren- Jill (Jeff) Hensley, Kara (Mike) Folk, Hillary (Chad) Hyde, and Gavin Ledford, and her great-grandchildren Parker, Wyatt, and Aubree Folk. She is also survived by her brother Tommy Langford, and a host of special nieces and nephews.
She enjoyed growing and canning her own vegetables, cooking (her orange cake was world-famous), quilting, collecting dolls, watching her hummingbirds, and watching Marty Stuart on Saturday nights. She also enjoyed planting and growing flowers and was always proud of her peony roses. Most of all, she loved her Lord and Savior and her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her house was filled with pictures of her family.
She worked at Carol’s Fashions for many years and loved working with, meeting, and helping people that she came in contact with. She often shared stories with her family and friends about her fun times at work, and all the people she had befriended over the years. She loved working with the public so much that after retirement, she worked at Walmart as a greeter until her health left her unable to continue. If you ever visited Mrs. Juanita, you knew you would be there for a while, because she loved talking and reminiscing about the past.
