Joyce Stockburger Gowin of Tunnel Hill, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 21, 2021. Joyce was born on September 30, 1943, to Cecil and Frances Stockburger of Ringgold and was a graduate of Ringgold High School. She was married to Jack Golden of Tunnel Hill in 1965 (deceased 1969) and married William Gowin of Tunnel Hill in 1972. After obtaining her secretarial certification, Joyce served as the assistant to the Vice President of Coronet Carpets. A long-term resident of Tunnel Hill, Joyce continued her administrative skills at the Ringgold Church of Christ where she served as its dedicated secretary for over 36 years. As a faithful member of Ringgold Church of Christ, Joyce was committed to serving others in her community and abroad, and throughout the years she served in vacation Bible schools as well as outreach programs in Jamaica and the Bahamas. A talented and creative person, Joyce was a master of arts and crafts, creating clever and original pieces for family and friends. Always prioritizing her family, Joyce enjoyed spending quality time with loved ones and watching the Ringgold Lady Tigers basketball being coached by her sister, Margaret.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Jack Golden of Tunnel Hill, parents Cecil and Frances Stockburger of Ringgold, and sister Patricia Stockburger Maples of Tunnel Hill.
Joyce is survived by her devoted husband William Gowin, sons Kelly (Leanne) Golden of Cumming and Eric (Wendy) Gowin of Dalton, daughter Anita (Virgil) Moore of Ringgold,
grandchildren Ashley Moore, Lane Moore, Madison (Ty) Barrett, Ian Gowin, Leighton Golden, Jack Golden, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by brothers Harold (Ann)
Stockburger of Ringgold, Thomas (Geneva) Stockburger of Tunnel Hill, Calvin Stockburger of
Tunnel Hill, Edwin (Delores) Stockburger of Tunnel Hill, and sister Margaret Stockburger of Tunnel Hill.
A visitation with the family will be held to honor Joyce at Ringgold Church of Christ Ministry Center on Thursday, January 28 from 4-6 p.m. The family requests that all guests please
wear masks and practice social distancing. A small, private celebration of life will immediately follow for family only.
