John Mark Rice, of Dalton, left this world on March 24th at the age of 61 years old. He will be sadly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts.
Mark served 9 years in the U.S. Navy. During his time in the Navy, he was stationed in Long Beach, California on the USS Peleliu as well as shore assignment. After he left the Navy he returned to Calhoun, GA, where he began his second career. He was an excellent electrician, having worked for several of the area's largest carpet manufacturers. He was a jack-of-all-trades and anyone who asked for his help would surely get it. He always enjoyed the outdoors, and he loved his dogs, Tinkerbell, Gidget, Mattie, and Coco.
Mark is preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Rice, and brother, Mike Rice, and joined in death by his wife, Diane Rice.
He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Mears, his grandson, Kayson Mears, his father, John Rice, his brother, Randy Rice (Teresa), sister-in-law, Patsy Rice, and an abundance of extended family and friends. We will miss him more than words can say.
Private services will follow at a later date.
