Joanne Parrish Bivens, age 67, was welcomed with open arms into the gates of Heaven on February 21, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Joanne was a para pro at Chatsworth Elementary School for 15 years. She was a member of Welcome Hill Baptist Church where she served as director of Children's Church for several years.

Joanne never met a stranger and was always willing to do for others before doing for herself.  She could typically be found working in her yard, visiting her favorite local stores, going on an adventure with her sister, talking on the phone, or having breakfast with her grandkids.  She had a servant's heart, and a zest for life, and her memory will live on in all the lives she touched.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Bivens: parents, Raymond and Johnnie Ruth Parrish: son-in-law, John David Gaddy III: and brother-in-law, Wendell Dempsey.

She is survived by her children, Jeremy Bivens of Chatsworth and Jennifer Gaddy of Chattanooga, TN. sister and best friend, Linda Dempsey of Tunnel Hill: grandchildren, Marlee and Barrett Gaddy and Scout Wade of Chattanooga.: special friends, Connie Pritchett, Linda Noland, Gene and Sharon Parker, and many loving cousins.

The funeral service for Joann will be on Saturday, February 25, at 3 PM, in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Randy Vaughn officiating.  The interment will be in Center Valley Cemetery.  The Family will be receiving friends from 12 until 3 on Saturday.
