James David Green Obituary

James Green, 71, passed away on July 27, 2024 at his ancestral home place in Murray County, Georgia surrounded by family and friends. James was a beloved son, husband, dad, father-in-law and grandfather.

James was raised by his parents, Robert and Syble Green. He had many close friends and family. Once you were in James’ circle of friends, you had a loyal and loving friend for life.

While taking a hay ride on a crisp Fall night in 1971, James met the love of his life Cindy Brindle. They married on June 9, 1972 and became inseparable.  Throughout their 52-year marriage, they exemplified true love and commitment. Choosing to spend most of their time together, they were deeply devoted to each other and their families. Their son, Marshall, was born July 16, 1973.

At an early age James developed a passion for horses. He diligently trained horses and spent his weekends at rodeos across the Southeast where he became known for his riding and roping skills. He was a member of the American Cowboy Association winning numerous team roping events with his closest friends. His cowboy lifestyle became an integral part of who he was. Once a cowboy always a cowboy.

In the early 1970s James developed another passion - horsepower. Along with his father Robert, he built his first race car. Over the next several years he designed and built some of the fastest race cars in the southeast. His successful racing career continued after he passed the torch for speed and engineering to his son, Marshall. Together they won hundreds of races, championships and titles. One of his proudest accomplishments was winning the Dirt Track World Championship in 1997.

From his cowboy days thru his racing days, James served as a mentor, coach and advisor. He never hesitated to reach out and help others. Many people were blessed by his gentle spirit, kindness and knowledge. He deeply loved his family and friends. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and guitar player.

James’ most passionate relationship was with his personal Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ . He exemplified this daily with his love and concern for others. We strongly desire to honor him by living a life of passion and serving others as he did throughout his life. His life was a testament to God’s word. We are confident that he was embraced in Heaven with “Well done, thy good and faithful servant.”

He was preceded in death by his mother Syble Green; grandparents Tom and Parlee Green, Dennis and Emma Johns; mother and father in law Regnal & Savannah Brindle; brother in law Terry Brindle; nephew Robbie Runyan.
