James Buckner Obituary

Mr. Max Buckner, age 70, of Chatsworth, died Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton due to complications of Covid 19.

His life's passion was his music and he was well known in the area for the many bands he played in  over the last 60 years.  His music led him to meet so many people who loved him for his kindness, generosity and humor.  Many local charities benefited from his love of music through fundraisers.

He was a lover of animals and could not resist feeding and adopting any stray that came to his home.  He always enjoyed trips to the local humane society to drop off food and other donations.

Max was a huge sports fan and loved watching his GA Bulldogs play football and his KY Wildcats play basketball.

Max was a member of St. Mark's in Dalton for 33 years where he served on several Outreach Committees, and was a volunteer at the DEO Clinic.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Debora, two sons Jody of Dalton and Ryan of Chatsworth, 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, Blake(Breanna) and their daughter Brylee and son Case, Katy, Brett, and Carson.  Sister, Linda McCutcheon, twin brother, John(Karen) of Dalton, two sisters-in-law, Carmen(Bill) Rader-Bowles of Lexington, KY.  and Patsy Rader of Nicholasville, KY.  Also surviving are his beloved nieces and nephew, as well as special life long friends he considered his family.

Due to the spreading virus and its dangers, a memorial service will be held on a future date at St. Mark's Episcopal Church with a celebration of his life to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory and honor to Murray County Humane Society, 12097 Hwy 225  North, Crandall, GA 30711, or St. Marks Episcopal Church, 901 W. Emory Street.  Dalton, GA. 30720.
