James Alfred Brown Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, James A. “Jimmy” Brown, age 76, at the home of his sister, Nancy Howell, in Chatsworth, Georgia, on September 25, 2025. Jimmy was a beloved family member who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Jimmy was a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. His best days were spent with a fishing pole. He always loved to share memories of his time fishing, especially the articles recognizing him in Georgia Outdoor News for catching a record-breaking bass at Carter’s Dam.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, A.J. and Bertha Brown; his brothers, Jack and Charles Brown; his sister, Evelyn (Ronald) Rose; and his sister Betty Moore.

He is survived by a daughter, Tara (Nick) White; sisters Nancy (Doug) Howell, Diane (Roy Lee) Wells, and sister-in-law Betty Brown. He is also survived by three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful for the compassionate care that was given by his caregiver, Joanna Fisher, as well as the care provided by Amedisys Hospice.
A private graveside service will be held to honor and celebrate Jimmy’s life on October 14, 2025, at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.

Arrangements are made with integrity by Shawn Chapman Funeral Home, Crematory, and Monument.
