In Loving Memory of Gil Johnson

 

With deep sorrow, our family announces the passing of Gil Johnson, who left this world on April 28, 2025 surrounded by love.

 

Gil lived a life full of passion, adventure, and service. A proud Vietnam veteran, he carried the values of duty and honor with him throughout his life. His professional journey was just as remarkable—working with NBC Broadcasting, earning his pilot’s license and flying for TJ Snow Company, and later contributing his talents at Astec Industries in Chattanooga, TN.

 

Many knew Gil through his lifelong love of fishing. As a professional angler, he built lasting friendships and unforgettable memories on the water. He was especially proud of designing and selling his own frog lure under the Snag Proof name, and he enjoyed working trade shows alongside Tim Hunter. In recent years, he found joy in ham radio, connecting with others around the world through Parks on the Air (POTA).

 

Above all, Gil loved his family deeply. His grandchildren brought him endless pride and joy. He was recently welcomed into fellowship at Hill City Baptist Church, finding comfort and community in faith.

 

Gil’s warmth, humor, and dedication to those he loved will be missed more than words can express. His legacy will live on in every story shared, every memory cherished, and every life he touched.

 

A celebration of Gil’s life will be held May 8, 2025 at 6 pm at Hill City Baptist Church in Resaca Georgia. The family will receive friends May 8, 2025 at 4pm prior to the service.
