Gary Lionell Atchley, age 68, of Dalton, Georgia, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on August 18, 2025.
Born April 11, 1957, in Albertville, Alabama. Gary was the son of the late Jewel and Mae Belle Atchley. He lived a life marked by faith, family, and hard work.
Gary loved the Lord with all his heart and was a devoted member of Christ Reformed Baptist Church in Dalton, GA. He was known for his warm smile, his bright laugh, his deep love of Alabama football, and his dedication to his work at the grocery store, where he built lasting friendships with many in the community.
He is survived by his daughter, Heather (Brandon) Carder; his beloved grandchildren, Adalee and Judson Carder; his sister, Patsy (Calvin) Noblitt; and several nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
Funeral services to honor and celebrate Gary’s life will be held Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Shawn Chapman Funeral Home, 2362 Highway 76, Chatsworth, GA 30705. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the service immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, donations to assist with funeral expenses may be made directly to Shawn Chapman Funeral Home.
Gary will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but we rejoice in knowing that he is now resting safely in the arms of Jesus.
