Emmerie Grace Kilpatrick was born on October 1st, 2001. A Monday. The sun was shining.
She is the river that runs its course through mountains and valleys unaware of its destination or its origin. She is the cold winter morning exhale that you see linger and wrap itself around your face. She is the golden tipped leaves of a solitary tree just after an early spring morning dew. She is the fading sunset on a hidden autumn day, the last hopeful rays of Tomorrow telling you that Today was Goodness.
She doesn't leave behind anyone. Not her parents, Amanda and Michael Miller, nor her Sisters and Brothers. Not Allena Kilpatrick, Thaddiouxs Ceasar, Payton Miller, nor Cayden Miller. Not her nephew Jack Akins, not Emmerie's biological Father John F Kilpatrick, and his wife Kim Kilpatrick, and their family. She didn't leave behind her Grandparents William and Louise Payne nor Gary and Linda Miller. She didn't leave behind her Aunts and Uncles either. Lisa and Larry Tanner, Debra and Anthony Roland, Steve and Jennifer Payne, Michelle and Scott Conner, or Ashley and Matthew Metz.
She refused to leave behind her cousins; Larissa, Zach, Hannah, Wesley, Madison, and Reagan Mealer. Nor Shawn, Stacy, Tatum, and Levi Roland. She said Nope about leaving behind Lauryn, Mike, Scarlett, and Elowen Baxter or Austin and Courtney Roland. Nor did she leave behind Miles Payne, Conner Mathis, Morgan Weeks, Allie Payne, Mitchell and Taylor Payne, Auston and Gavin Metz, nor Aya and Lex Heilman.
She adamantly refused to leave behind her special Great Aunts and Uncles, Linda Addington, Harriett and Richard Adams, Lillian and Vernon Gordon, or Bradford and Brenda Russell.
Her very special Pals (that she refused to leave behind, might I add) are Noah and Emily Gravley, Whittney Simonson, Bethany Makalley, Jennifer Ruiz, and Sara Edmond.
Uncle Russell L Hipp, Cousin Brad Russell, and Great Uncle Bob Addington were waiting for her with open arms.
Emmerie Grace never left Anyone Behind. She is now patiently waiting for us to catch up.
