Donald Paul Swinney, age 81, of Chatsworth Georgia, died Monday, January 2, 2023 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga TN.
Donald was born on April 5, 1941, to Norman Paul and Ruby Feagans Swinney of Varnell.
In 1961, Donald met Mary Helen Grady Swinney, they were married on May 31, 1963. They had three children Tammy Swinney England, Melissa Ann Baynes, and Jeffrey Lane Swinney.
Donald worked in the carpet industry, leaving his imprint long after his retirement in 2001.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Norman, and Ruby Swinney; mother and father-in-law, Haskel and Mary Dell Grady; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Jerry Starnes, Patricia Murray, Leonard Cotton Brock, Robert Harold Grady, and Virgil H. Nelson.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Helen Swinney; children and spouses, Tammy and Jon England, Missy and Patrick Baynes, Jeff and Dradyn Swinney; grandchildren, Mary Beth and Brian Garcia, Alec and Abbie Wagnon, Jessica Swinney, Katherine Baynes, Sarah Grace Wagnon (Fiancé Zach Broome), Paul and Cheyenne Swinney, Maylyn Hinson, Robert Hinson, Tommy, and Alyson England, Chase England, and Logan England; great-grandchildren, Whitley Grace Wagnon, Ellie Ann Wagnon, Patrick Oliver Garcia, Caroline Alba Garcia, and Jolie Ann England; sisters and brothers in law, Reida Moree, Wanda Brock, and Butch Murray; sisters-in-law and brothers in laws, Carlton and Bonnie Grady, Barbara Nelson, Roy, and Nona Akins, John and Pat Cusack; Many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
The service to honor the life of Donald Paul Swinney will be 2 pm on Saturday, January 7, 2023, in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Sam Smith and Paul Swinney officiating. The interment will be in the Varnell Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 11 am to 2 pm.
