Mr. David Winkler age 75, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on July 16, 2024.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn “Kitty” Winkler; father DA(Dot) Winkler, mother Ruby Winkler and son, Brian Winkler and niece Nikki Leyva who was like a daughter to him.
He is survived by his children, Brittany Winkler Banks (Tony), Starlan Childers, and Amy Bagley who he considered a daughter as well: several grandchildren, Caitlin Winkler(Dylan Langford), Bronson Bowen(Haley), Brooklyn Mauldin, Makayla Childers, Maliyah Childers, Luke Greer, Abigail Greer: great grandchildren, Blaklee Langford, Rylenn, and Jackson Gulledge: several nieces and nephews and a special friend CJ Johnson.
He was a sergeant in the US Army and a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was the owner of Dow-Cott Warpers in Chatsworth GA for 40 years. He was passionate about dirt track racing and antique cars. He loved music and playing guitar with his grandson Bronson Bowen. He loved spending time with his family most and will be missed by them all.
A service to celebrate David’s life will be held on Saturday, July 20th, at 2 pm in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Bobby Bowers officiating. The interment will be at Wilbanks and Reed Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 19th, from 5 to 9 pm.
