Mr. Cleave “JR’ Bennett, age 85, of Chatsworth, went home to be with the Lord, on Saturday, December 9, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Bennett proudly served in the United States Air Force. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. In his children’s words, “he was the best”.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Tennie Bennett; brothers, Floyd, Robert, Howard, Frank, and James Bennett; sisters, Lee Young, Redith Locke, Jean McCulley, and Edith Burger.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Ann Banks Bennett of Chatsworth; daughter and son-in-law, Renae and Tim Bailey of Lafayette GA, daughter, Stephanie Hawkins, of Dalton; grandchildren, Jessica and Jenna Gallmon, Peyton and, Parker Hawkins; great-granddaughters, Annalee Grace, Jocee, and Cheslee; brother in law, James Banks, brother and sister in law, Steve and Mary Ann Banks; several nieces and nephews and cousins also survive.
A service to honor the life of Cleave “JR” Bennett will be 2 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2023, in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Rev. Andrew Corbin. The interment will be in Maranatha Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
