Charles William Smitherman

Mr. Charles William Smitherman age, 90, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife and children and faithful Pomeranian Fritz on Monday, June 29,2020.

He was preceded in death by his father W.T. Smithman: Mother, Mary Jo Smitherman; brothers Lavoy and Donald Smitherman: sisters Betty Jo Land and Brenda Bradley of Ringgold.

He was known by many as Chuck, he was a post-WWII US Army veteran, serving in both Japan and Korea. He worked as a pressman for many years as an employee of Lee Printing Company. He was born December 12, 1929, in Mansfield OH, and was a long time resident of, Ringgold GA before moving to Dalton in 1965.

He is survived by his wife, of 69 years Bettye Pierce Smitherman: daughter Anne Smitherman of the residence of Dalton: son and daughter in law Bill and Susan Smitherman of Dalton: grandchildren, Dr. Charles (Marinia) Smitherman, Ashley (Bucky) Broadrick both of Dalton Dr. Adam (Ashton) Smitherman of Edmond OK: seven great-grandchildren: brothers  W.A. Smitherman of Atlanta, and Jerry Smitherman of Ringgold, sisters Erlene Templeton of Ringold and Ladonna Strickland of Hiram, also twenty-five nieces and nephews as well great-nieces and nephew along with their children and grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service held at a later time.
