Caroline Darlene Abernathy

Caroline Darlene (Elrod) Abernathy, age 62 from Fairmount, passed away on March 24, 2020, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Abernathy was retired from Honeywell. Darlene loved her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren
Mrs. Abernathy is preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Abernathy: son, JerryDon Patterson parents, Robert Lee and Lola Virginia (Tallent) Elrod.
She is survived by her children and spouses, Jimmy Dale and Jennifer Patterson, of Lagrange GA, Tera and Calvin Brooks, of Cartersville, Casandra Abernathy, of Cartersville: grandchildren, Tristan Morrow, Austin Patterson, Devan Morrow, Israel Dover, Hannah Patterson, Dawson Dysart, Cassie Brooks, Haley Abernathy, Brook Patterson, Katelyn Dysart: great-grandchildren: Legend Patterson, Lucas Dover, Liam Dover: brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale and Leslie Elrod of Dalton, Don and Pat Elrod of Cartersville: sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie and Clifford Messer of Cartersville, Lisa and Glen Bunch of Cartersville, Cindy and Franklin Mulkey of Taylorsville several nieces and nephews also survived. 

Due to the COVID-19 virus, we will be following the state's guidelines, Immediate family in groups of 10 and social distancing will be observed. The service will be live-streamed on Casandra Abernathy's Face book page.

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Abernathy will be Saturday, March 28, 2020, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Rev. Forrest Leachman officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The Family will receive friends Friday, March 27, 2020, from 5 to 9 PM
