Betty “Marie” McCurdy Jackson
August 4,1940-June 29, 2025 (age 84)

Mrs. Betty “Marie” McCurdy Jackson, age 84 of Chatsworth, Georgia, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was the definition of hard work and integrity. She retired from her position as assistant director of Environmental Services at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton, Georgia and dedicated her life to caring for her family. When she was not caring for her husband, kids, grandkids, great grandkids, or in-laws, she spent her time tending to her garden, camping in the mountains, and reading her books. Though she planted seed after seed in her garden, the seeds she planted in her family were the seeds she cared for the most. She helped each and every family member, along with others outside of the family, without ever expecting anything in return. She had a bright personality filled with generosity, kindness, integrity, and most of all, love. Marie Jackson left behind
memories and passed down traits that no materialistic items could ever give us. Because of the energy and care she constantly poured into each of us, we now carry her with us every day in mind and soul.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Floyd Jackson, parents, Edward and Lucy McCurdy, and numerous brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Lena Jackson of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, daughter Deborah “Debbie” Kay Jackson, daughter and son-in-law Martha and Alan Chastain, daughter and son-in-law Joanna Marie Griffin and Jason Griffin, all of Chatsworth, Georgia; grandchildren,n Kay and Donnie Blankenship, Darrell “D.J.” Summey, Brittney and Dallas York, Colby and Kendra Wilson, Luke, Seth, and Grace Griffin, Taylor Jackson, Olivia Forster, Zachary and Macy Chastain, John and Molly Chastain; great-grandchildren Bailey, Erin, and Aubri Blankenship, Logan Gray, Bentley, and Riley York, Caden Deal, Samuel Jewel, Zander, and Kallan Chastain, sister-in-laws Bernice Elrod and Nancy Ingle, sister Shirley Wooten, uncle and aunt Clifford and Sarah McCurdy, a great number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

The family greatly appreciates the wonderful care that was provided by HeartLife Hospice and would like to say a very special thank you to nurse Shelly Godfrey. Funeral services for Marie Jackson will be on Thursday, July 3rd, at 6 pm. In the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home, with Dr. Danny Cochran and Mike Douglas officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 3 pm until the funeral hour.
