Obituary
Mrs. Arva Nell Hanes, age 89, of Dalton, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 4th, 2022. She was born on November 14, 1932, in Dalton, Georgia, and she spent her life caring for her family. Her creativity, wit, and strength of spirit will be missed beyond words. She was a 1950 graduate of Valley Point High School and retired from Walmart after 25 years of service.
Mrs. Hanes is preceded in death by her husband, Frank W. Hanes; her mother, Faye S. Howell; brothers, Charles and Dare Moulton, and sister, Faye Marks. She is survived by her loving daughter, Connie Hanes, and nieces and nephews: Rodger and Dwayne Sutherland, Debby Boyd, Larry Hanes, Carol Cline, Charlene Ruddell and Cheryl Smith; and sister-in-law Geneva Hanes and special granddaughters Alondra and Miranda Rivera.
The funeral service for Mrs. Hanes will be on Saturday, July 9 at 11 AM in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Rev. Sandra Smith Franklin and Annette Stout officiating. Interment will be in West Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 8, from 5 until 8 PM at the funeral home.
