Arthur Corbin Obituary

Arthur Corbin, age 81 of Chatsworth, Georgia passed Thursday morning, April 13th, 2023, at the Advent Health Gordon.

Arthur was born July 30, 1941, on Tails Creek in Ellijay, Georgia to his late parents, Noah Paul, and Gussie Ernie “Sanford” Corbin. He was the pastor of Good Samaritan Baptist Church in Dalton, Georgia. He pastored many area churches throughout his ministry of 57 years.

He is preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Nell Corbin, Ruth Geneva Corbin, Ann Corbin Penson, Peggy Ann Corbin Quarles, Gretha Lee Corbin Banks, and his brothers, John, Truman, and Joe Corbin.

He is survived by his wife, Emmoree Bagley Corbin, of 62 years, daughter and son-in-law Veta and Mark Cloer, sons, and daughters-in-law, Chris and Tammy Corbin, and Steve and Felicia Corbin. He has ten grandchildren: Linda Stewart, Susan Scott, Nick Cloer, Lucas, Jacob, Matthew, Caleb, James, Noah, and Andrew Corbin. He has eleven great-grandchildren: Hunter and Haley Hobbs, Lindsay and Alyssa Cloer, Walker, Amelia, Colton, Reed, and Sawyer Corbin, and Wesley and Keith Stewart. He has three great-great-grandchildren: Kaisley, Baelynn, and Piper Stewart. Sisters and brothers-in-law include Oma Jean and Joe Caldwell, Gwenda Sue and Randall Davis, Nena Faye and Leon McClure, Gail, and Terry Sanford; brothers include Herman and Ronnie Corbin, several nieces and nephews also survive, as well as a very special friend, Richard Jones.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on April 15, 2023, at the Shawn Chapman Funeral Home Chapel with Chris and Steve Corbin, Alan Ledford, and John Dorsey officiating. Graveside interment will follow at the Grace Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, April 14, 2023, from 5 pm to 9 pm

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
