Donnie Abernathy

Mr. Donnie Abernathy, age 62, of Fairmount, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2019, at Adventhealth Gordon.

Mr. Abernathy worked for 28 years for Bartow County Public works, He liked to travel, working outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by parents: Elihue and Betty Abernathy, brother: Jerry Wayne Abernathy and stepson: Jerry Don Patterson.

Mr. Abernathy is survived by his wife of 27 years: Darlene Abernathy, children and spouses: Tera and Calvin Brooks of Cartersville, Casandra Abernathy of Cartersville, and Jimmy Patterson of LaGrange, GA., grandchildren: Tristan Morrow, Austin Patterson, Devan Morrow, Hannah Patterson, Israel Dover, Dawson Dysart, Katelyn Dysart, Cassie Brooks, Haley Abernathy and Brook Patterson, great grandchildren: Legend Patterson and Lucas Dover. siblings: Ronnie Abernathy of Fairmount, Patsy Haynes of Cartersville, Wanda Williams of White, Lynn Abernathy of Fairmount, Gail Hazelwood of Cartersville and Shawn Abernathy of White.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mr. Abernathy will be on Wednesday, April 10, at 2 PM in the Chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Rev James Surratt and Rev. Eli Carter officiating.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 until 9 at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Rydal, GA.
