Charles J. S. Holmes

Mr. Charles J.S. Holmes, age 86, of Chatsworth, born on August 15, 1932, in Pickens County, passed away Monday, June 10, 2019,  He was self-employed and owner of Holmes Used Cars in Dalton for over 30 years.  He retired in 1996 and enjoyed traveling.  He was of the Christian faith, a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Henry Grady and Lena Childers Holmes, wife : Linda Holmes, sons: Ricky, Lamar, and Steve Holmes, daughter and son in law: Kathy Holmes and Ralph Matthews, Sr. mother in law: Betty Brock,  sister and brother in law: :Ruthell and Seth Ridley, brother: Otis Holmes, sister in law: Brenda Brock, brother in law: Randy Brock, grandson: Ralph Matthews, Jr. great-grandson: Steven Holmes and great-great-granddaughter: Karissa Kriner

Charles is survived by a special aunt: Annie Ruth Guess, daughter: Brenda Holmes Sturgill, son: Charles L. Holmes, daughters in law: Sheila and Donna Holmes, grandchildren: Bridget (TeRan) VanMeter, Dee Sturgill, Holly Jordan, Heather Johnson, Tara (Estel) Cummings, David Matthews, Jennifer Holmes, Jonathan Chance, DeWayne (DaNae) Holmes, Michael (Stephanie) Holmes, Shaun (Andrea) Holmes, Valerie (Gabriel;) Cruz, Eric (Amy) Holmes, and Melissa Holmes, Special nieces and nephews: Linda and Roy New, Jerry and Mary Faye Ridley, James Ridley and Dale Ridley and a number of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. 

The family will be receiving friends for visitation on Thursday, June 13 beginning at 12 o'clock until the service hour at 5 PM at Shawn Chapman Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, you may make contributions for funeral expenses.
