Howard David Shuler

Mr. Howard David Shuler, age 84 of Dalton passed away, Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Wood Dale Healthcare Center

. 
Mr. Shuler was a  member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of the American Legion and served in the Korean Conflict where he received the Combat Infantry Badge;  Korean Service Medal with Two Bronze Service Stars; and a United Nations Service Medal. His career included  manager of Dalton Elks Club, chef at Dalton Golf and Country Club.  Mr. Shuler owned several businesses , Kozey Korner, Charcoal House, Rebel Park, Big Valley Antiques, and Cherokee Salvage. He was a member of the Valley Point High School Alumni Association Hall of Fame, and member of Dalton Parkinson's Disease Support Group.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Eula Shuler, brother, John Henry Shuler, sister and brother in law: Elaine and Marshall Hayes,  brother in law : Hillis Davis and a son in law, James White.

Survivors include his daughters and son in law, Denise and Raymond (Catfish) Morrison of Rocky Face, and Carmen Shuler of Dalton.  Grandchildren and spouse, Miranda Morrison and Melisa Morrison both of Rocky Face, Zachary and Blair White of Watkinsville, GA, and Zane White of Athens, GA. Six Great Grandchildren. Sisters and brother in law, Betty Shuler Benton of Cartersville, Wanda and Jeff Marks of Hixson, TN and a Sister in law, Mary Lillian Shuler of Dalton, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be Saturday 1 pm at the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home, Chatsworth, GA with Dr. Ron McKinney and Mark Barnett officiating.  Interment will follow in the Scrougetown Community Church Cemetery in Ellijay, GA with full Military Honors.  The family will receive friends Friday, March 20, 2015  from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at Shawn Chapman Funeral Home, Chatsworth, GA.
