Welcome to the memorial page for

Hillard Allen

March 20, 1930 ~ April 26, 2016 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Mr. Hillard Allen Sr. age 86 of Chatsworth passed away Tuesday April 26, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his family.  Hillard Allen was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  His unwavering and undeniable faith was the key to keeping together a large family that was often separated by distance and time.  Through daily encounters with Hillard, one would receive valuable lessons about life, friendship, and God's grace.  He cheerfully greeted everyone with a steady whistling tune and quirky joke.  He selflessly provided for and served his God, family, church and community.  If there was something that needed to be fixed, you could find him taking care of it in his hand-built woodshop.  He was a true renaissance man, handling both business and carpentry work.  One of the many legacies that he leaves behind is his Heavenly Creation bird houses that are located in gardens and homes all over North Georgia.  Isaiah 40:31 states, "Yet those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary."  Although Hillard's earthly absence creates a hole in the Allen family, his tired and weary body is renewed, his pain is removed and there is great peace in knowing that Hillard finally received his eternal wings.

Mr. Allen is preceded in death by his wife Kathleen Allen. Survivors include, children & spouses: Hillard & Minnie Allen, Jr. of Dalton, Terry & Linda Allen of Dalton, Sidney & Joyce Allen of Johnson City, TN., Gail & Steve Gregory of Varnell, Joy & Doug White of Chatsworth, eleven grandchildren: Shannon Banks, Laynea Allen, Joshua Allen, Lora Beth Allen, Stephanie Whitworth, Nathan Gregory , Jessica Baldridge, Brittany Williams, Casey Hyatt, Shawn White, and Jake White, 9 great grandchildren, Emily Banks, Noah Gregory, Caleb Gregory, Benjamin Gregory, Levi Williams, Hudson Williams , Kye Baldridge, Kelson Baldridge, Benjamin Whitworth, and Emmy Jane White. A brother-in-law, Hubert Cagle of Everitt, PA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Service for Mr. Hillard Allen will be Friday 2 pm at the Chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Rev. Curt Thomason officiating.  Interment will follow in the United Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday 5 till 9 pm.
